About us
The Oasis Partnership has been providing services throughout Buckinghamshire since 1984.
Historically, we’ve been known for our work providing substance misuse services, expertise and recovery support, however in 2019 we revised our charity objects to enhance the support we offer, enabling us to develop new provision focussed on Early Intervention and Prevention, Employment, and a range of Health and Wellbeing initiatives. It is the early intervention and prevention focus that took us on our journey.
We identified a need…
The newsletter, support group and podcast model is designed to raise awareness and add to the conversation. Gathering information to support the growing evidence base, highlighting the links between ADHD, Drug and Alcohol Use, Criminal Behaviour and other risk taking activities.
A message from Oasis CEO and ADHD Resilience Network Founder- Colin McGregor-Paterson
In my quest to improve outcomes for our clients, I have been researching the links between ADHD, drug and alcohol use and offending behaviour. My curiosity about ADHD and its link with the clients we support, spurred me to embark on an extensive research journey, uncovering a wealth of valuable information and insights, meeting some wonderful and inspiring people on the way..
I have developed this newsletter, because, for the first time in many years, it would appear there may be a solution in relation to ‘preventing’ criminal activity and ‘reducing’ substance use disorder whilst improving recovery outcomes. There may also be solution for people ‘self medicating’ without realising why they are medicating, taking a harm reduction approach with a focus on early intervention and prevention.
With the ADHD ‘revolution’ that is taking place, and a desire to give people better opportunities in life, now is a perfect time for the Oasis Partnership to continue to grow the conversation, get people curious, raise awareness and develop an evidence base in order to support people more effectively. Support do not punish.
This bi-weekly newsletter will shine a spotlight on the links identified by highlighting areas of interest and existing research. Offering opportunities to get involved and start where you aim to begin.
I urge people to sign up to the newsletter be an early adopter, join the network and see where we go from here. Colin.
